The Consumer Protection and Competition Authority of Panama (ACODECO) hosts the 10th Consumer Protection Forum on the occasion of the World Consumer Rights Day on 15 of March 2021. The online event will be held under the title: "Consumer challenges in current times" and will gather speakers from UNCTAD, Germany and the private sector to discuss digital economy, financial education and healthy consumption issues.
Mr. Arnau Izaguerri, Economic Affairs Officer at UNCTAD's Competition and Consumer Policies Branch will speak on consumer protection in the digital era and online commerce. He will present the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection as well as UNCTAD's work on consumer protection, in particular the UNCTAD background note on "Strengthening consumer protection and competition in the digital economy" tackling the responsibility of platforms, data protection, product safety online, best practices for enforcement, consumer empowerment and business guidance, dispute resolution and redress.
