Competition Law and Policy and Consumer Protection
UNCTAD assists countries in formulating, drafting or reviewing competition policies and legislation, contributing to the creation of a "competitive culture", to a better understanding of issues and to the building of national institutional capacity, for instance in the setting-up of a competition authority, and training of officials. UNCTAD also helps developing countries have a better understanding of the relationship between trade and competition in the context of possible international negotiations in WTO.
