The Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD) is a subsidiary body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The Commission provides the General Assembly and ECOSOC with high-level advice on relevant science and technology issues.
UNCTAD is responsible for the substantive servicing of the Commission.


15 Oct 09 - The CSTD inter-sessional panel will take place 9-11 October 2009 in Geneva. The Panel will examine two priority themes and address the follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society(WSIS).


9 Apr 09 - The 12th session of the Commission on Science and Technology will take place 25-29 May 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland. The Commission will review progress made in the implementation of and follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) outcomes at the regional and international levels. It will also address two main themes.


27 Jan 09 - Ambassador Juan Eduardo Eguiguren, Chairperson of the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD), met with the Bureau of the Economic and Social Council in New York to discuss how to increase synergy and strengthen policy coherence between CSTD and ECOSOC.
