  30 June - The food crisis that began in 2008 is still present in Africa, and the causes have yet to be addressed, a series of experts told UNCTAD´s Trade and Development Board. They said a major effort is needed to avoid worsening hunger on the continent.
  29 June - The food crisis that preceded the global financial downturn has not disappeared from Africa, and must not be ignored as governments focus on world economic difficulties, the annual executive session of UNCTAD´s Trade and Development Board will hear from a series of experts on 30 June 2009.
  24 June - The Secretary-General of UNCTAD launched at United Nations Headquarters in New York the UNCTAD annual Economic Development in Africa Report. He presented the study during the first day of the United Nations Conference on the Financial and Economic Crisis and its Impact on Development.
  24 June - Global foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and cross-border mergers and acquisitions - the main mode of FDI - drastically declined in the last quarter of 2008, and the fall has continued into 2009, UNCTAD data reveal.
