  19 January - In the second issue of the UNCTAD Global Investment trends Monitor, UNCTAD informs that FDI dropped by close to 40% worldwide in 2009.
 04 December - To provide policy-makers and the international investment community with up-to-date information about the latest developments in national and international foreign investment policies, UNCTAD has issued its new Investment Policy Monitor.
01 December - To provide an up-to-date assessment of global FDI flows, UNCTAD has launched the Global Investment Trends Monitor. The inaugural issue covers global FDI trends in the second quarter of 2009 and also offers FDI estimates for the third quarters of 2009.
 02 November - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi urged leaders of stock exchanges and financial institutions to better manage and integrate environmental, social and governance issues into their business practices.
 25 September - The G 20 " Leaders´ Statement: The Pittsburgh Summit" welcomes the report that UNCTAD prepared jointly with WTO and OECD on investment and trade measures, and requests the organizations to continue their monitoring and reporting of investment and trade policy developments.
