UNCTAD and Civil Society

At UNCTAD´s recent Conference (2004) in São Paulo, Brazil, member States agreed that better integration of NGOs, the private sector and academia into the work of UNCTAD would benefit both UNCTAD and its member States.

Cooperation with civil society is mutually beneficial: it can help civil society organizations enhance their advocacy role in support of development and it can add value to UNCTAD´s work through providing partnerships as well as through participation in joint meetings and discussion forums leading to concrete development outcomes.

UNCTAD´s Civil Society Outreach Unit

The Civil Society Outreach (CSO) Unit is responsible for liaison between UNCTAD and civil society.
