

16 March 09 - The current global economic crisis is likely to result in increased sovereign borrowing by developing countries as they attempt to mitigate the negative external shocks stemming from fluctuations in terms of trade, contracting global demand, exchange rate volatility, to name a few.

Within this context the importance of responsible borrowing and lending becomes an issue of increased importance and is at the heart of sound debt management.
