21 Sept 11 - Ports are likely to be affected directly and indirectly by climate changes, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events and rising temperatures. Climate change and its impact on ports will be the theme of the upcoming Expert Meeting that will take place from the 29th to the 30th of September.
26 July 10 - The joint UNECE-UNCTAD Workshop on ´Climate Change Impacts on International Transport Networks´ aims at raising awareness about climate change impacts and adaptation requirements for international transportation - an issue that has so far received little attention.
13 July 10 - UNCTAD´s Secretary-General has been invited to the High-Level Advisory Group on Climate Change Financing -- joining several Heads of State -- to spearhead the UN´s role on the issue.
Concerns about climate change have placed this threat to development prospects high on the international agenda, particularly in terms of its economic, trade and social impacts. UNCTAD´s main role in addressing this global challenge is to help developing countries master the trade and development implications and take advantage of emerging trade and investment opportunities.
