11 Nov 09 - In an effort to build on growing interest in the Kyoto Protocol’s clean development mechanism (CDM) in Africa, partner UN agencies (UNEP, UNDP, WB, UNITAR, UNCTAD and UNFCCC) and the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) have announced they will organize a second all-Africa Carbon Forum, at the United Nations Gigiri complex in Nairobi, Kenya, on 3–5 March 2010.
23 July 09 - For the developing countries, the CDM is the most visible face of the Kyoto Protocol and the struggle against climate change. This revised and expanded version of the Guide has three main objectives: (i) to provide information to all those interested in CDM project activities; (ii) to detail the specific regulations governing the submission of CDM project activities in Brazil; and (iii) to facilitate an understanding of the process and, consequently, promote the development of CDM projects in the country.
05 May 09 - Climate experts, economists, and government officials discussed at a three-day UNCTAD meeting at the end of April how to expand participation by developing countries in the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), the international programme designed to create a market system for reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
19 February 09 - Over 80% of world trade is carried in seaborne vessels and — while their engines now contribute between 1.6 and 4.1% of global carbon dioxide emissions — their emissions may triple by 2050, said experts at a three-day UNCTAD
