November 2009
  18 November -UNCTAD will support the Government of Paraguay in the design and enforcement of a national competition and consumer protection framework, aimed at enhancing efficiency for economic growth and development.
 11 November - The Presidents of Mali and Sao Tomé and Principe and UNCTAD´s Secretary-General urged African officials meeting in Mali to strive to use the continent´s vast natural resources for sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.
 02 November - United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi urged leaders of stock exchanges and financial institutions to better manage and integrate environmental, social and governance issues into their business practices.
 02 November - An online training course on "Successful Organic Production and Export", launched this month by the three United Nations agencies, has attracted worldwide attention with more than 600 applications from 80 countries and territories.
October 2009
 21 October - At the twenty-sixth session of ISAR, UNCTAD signed an MoU with Leiden University of the Netherlands and Carana Corporation of the United States, focused on building and sustaining quantitative research and measurement tools for determining the general level of accountancy development in countries around the world.
 12 October - The United Nations Group on the Information Society held the first-ever Open Consultations on Meeting the Challenges of Financing ICT for Development. Financing ICT is important in order to bridge the digital divide and for developing countries to connect to the global economy.
 6 October - The Vice-President of Sierra Leone, in a meeting with UNCTAD Secretary-General Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, expressed his country´s appreciation for UNCTAD´s technical assistance and endorsed the main recommendations of the forthcoming Investment Policy Review.
September 2009
 25 September - The G 20 " Leaders´ Statement: The Pittsburgh Summit" welcomes the report that UNCTAD prepared jointly with WTO and OECD on investment and trade measures, and requests the organizations to continue their monitoring and reporting of investment and trade policy developments.
 15 September - The Government of Ecuador and the UNCTAD Secretariat today announced the commencement of technical cooperation activities.
 15 September - The world really is unsustainable right now and steps should be taken rapidly by governments responsibly to reduce population growth and to work together to make the technological progress needed to keep climate change and other environmental problems from sooner or later causing immense human catastrophe. This was the message of Professor Jeffrey Sachs, one of the world´s eminent economists.
 14 September - A Report on G20 Trade and Investment Measures was issued today, jointly prepared by three organizations -- UNCTAD, WTO and OECD -- in response to the G20 Leaders request made at their last summit in London on 2 April 2009. The Report is meant for consideration at the forthcoming G20 summit in Pittsburgh on 24-25 September 2009.
 8 September - Coping with tight Israeli closures, restraining occupation policies, an eroded productive base and economic structural deformation, the economy of the occupied Palestinian territory faces unprecedented challenges, UNCTAD report says.

 03 September - As a step towards revitalizing the Silk Road region as a trading and investment location, UNCTAD´s Silk Road Investment Guide was launched during the 6th International Investment Promotion Conference in China.

 29 July - Rising unemployment as the global recession worsens is dampening flows of migrant workers. Many are returning to their home countries. But migrants have a role to play in development, experts said.
 24 July - The outcomes of the 2009 L’Aquila G8 Summit, i.e. the " G8 Leaders Declaration:Responsible Leadership for a Sustainable Future”, and the “ Concluding Report of the Heiligendamm Process” (G8 plus 5) made references to UNCTAD’s international and national investment policy work, including UNCTAD´s contribution to the discussion on the development dimension of investment.
 16 July - The 2009 Report argues that in order to weather the present world economic crisis and achieve long-term development, developmental States should be built in the Least Developed Countries (LDCs). They should foster knowledge diffusion, capital accumulation and structural change, thereby reducing poverty.
15 July - UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Petko Draganov opened a special session of the Economic and Social Council on joint United Nations work in Rwanda.
 08 July - An UNCTAD review of national and international investment policy developments shows that in response to the crisis, G 20 countries have mostly refrained from taking policy measures that are restrictive towards foreign inward and domestic outward investment. In fact, a substantial number of the policy changes surveyed were in the direction of facilitating investment, UNCTAD experts have determined.
 07 July - Participants in the conference on the financial crisis and its implications for the international financial reporting architecture and financial stability hosted by UNCTAD underscored the critical importance of a single set of high-quality financial reporting standards for restoring investors´ confidence and fostering financial stability around the world.
 06 July - The United Nations General Assembly today confirmed by acclamation the appointment of Supachai Panitchpakdi to a second four-year term as Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). His term will run from 1 September 2009 to 31 August 2013.

 30 June - The food crisis that began in 2008 is still present in Africa, and the causes have yet to be addressed, a series of experts told UNCTAD´s Trade and Development Board. They said a major effort is needed to avoid worsening hunger on the continent.
 29 June - The food crisis that preceded the global financial downturn has not disappeared from Africa, and must not be ignored as governments focus on world economic difficulties, the annual executive session of UNCTAD´s Trade and Development Board will hear from a series of experts on 30 June 2009.
