Project Partnerships

The UNCTAD Creative Economy Programme has a number of past and ongoing project partnerships, including those with Argentina, China, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Arab Emirates. 

Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism

UNCTAD is collaborating with the City of Istanbul, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Turkish Restaurant & Entertainment Association (TURYID), to better understand the Turkish creative economy and to unlock opportunities for growth within it.

What is the purpose?

To create a partnership that supports the growth of the creative economy in Turkey, and Istanbul specifically, with a view to mapping the creative economy and understanding the key sub-sectors for support and development.

What are we doing?

The partnership will look at the sub-sector of gastronomy, its linkages with the creative industries and contribution to the creative economy. It will also consider other sub-sectors, particularly design and those which show high potential.

  • Global Gastro-Economy Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, March 2018
  • Study on Creative Industries and workshop in Istanbul, October 2018
  • Design Industry Forum in Istanbul with Istanbul Development Agency, 2019

Achievements to Date

  • Gastro-economy Summit: UNCTAD participated in the first Global Gastro-Economy Summit hosted by TURYID, which was themed – ‘Developing economy with gastronomy’.
