HL-089_300x205.jpgThis Conference - organized every two years by UNCTAD - provides a regular forum for sharing experiences and exchanging views between Governments, international organizations, academia, the private sector, and civil society on current issues in public finance, debt management and debt crisis prevention.

It brings together senior-level national and international debt managers and experts from around the world to discuss some of the most pertinent topics in both external and domestic debt, debt management and public finance.

Themes include:

  • External Shocks, Financial Stability and Debt

  • Debt Restructuring Mechanisms

  • Principles on Responsible Sovereign Lending and Borrowing

  • Debt Sustainability: After the HIPC Initiative and the Global Crisis

  • Effective Debt Strategies in the Current Macroeconomic Environment

  • Optimal Sources of Financing

  • Contingent Liabilities

  • Debt Portfolio: Composition and Risk Management

  • Debt Data and Transparency: Challenges and the Countries' Capacity-Building Needs

Presenters will include a balance between countries' experts, academia, civil society and representatives from international and regional organizations. Debate and discussions will be promoted.

The Conference will be followed by the DMFAS Advisory Group meeting.
