Workshop on South-North-South Dissemination of Bioenergy Technologies and Practices

UNCTAD, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) are organizing a workshop that will bringing together African and Asian researchers to visit bioenergy facilities, policymaking institutions in Sweden and establish linkages between African, Swedish and Asian researchers. The workshop is part of the activities of the African Bioenergy Development Platform elaborated by UNCTAD. The workshop will take place in Stockholm during the week of 27-31 May 2013. UNCTAD will be represented by Mr. Henrique Pacini DITC, who will coordinate activities for visiting researchers from Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, and Indonesia.

During the week in Stockholm the participants will visit a number of bioenergy production sites, including facilities producing biomass pellets, as well as gaseous and liquid biofuels. They will also participate in policy dialogues and exchanges of lessons with energy and environmental authorities, as well as other researchers in Sweden. The workshop activities will serve to advance UNCTAD's continued commitment to the analysis and development of sustainable energy as a key development aspect for developing and least developed countries.​
