Electronic exchanges (or e-exchanges) are classified according to the type of products they offer for trading. Please click on the images below:

 

Despite the above classification, e-exchanges can also be categorized according to the possibilities they offer for trading.

Electronic futures exchange: This type of electronic exchanges is currently still uncommon because it implies a solid financial structure and good reliability. Some do provide the possibility to trade futures on a specific product.
   
Electronic auction exchange: This type of electronic exchanges provides the services of an auction. Most often, these e-exchanges are specific to one type of commodity (eg fruits, energy, etc). They provide added services such as credit, insurance, quality control, etc. Auction e-exchanges is currently the most growing category of e-exchanges.
   
Bullet board exchange: This type of e-exchanges is the very common. E-excahnges provide lists of product either for sale or for purchase. Different services can be provided too: freight, control, insurance, news, etc.

 

Moreover, various others electronic facilities are available, especially in the information matter. There are some sites which help traders providing them several services: price information, company ratings, weather forecasts, access on line to commodity exchanges, etc, and soon there will be sites helping e-exchanges in the clearing operations.

Derivatives services Some platforms provide technical services in order to allow e-exchanges sites to add derivatives products in their offer. This trend is new, a very few sites are referenced.
   
Brokers facility These sites belongs to the main brokers in the world. They provide essentially information about the different commodity exchanges around the world and access to trade on the exchanges.
   
Certification: E Commerce Certificate Organization This profit organization is owned by International Stock Auction Network Inc. It issues its certificate to each member of the Organization, certifying then the reliability of the member.
