Ad Hoc Expert Meeting on Insurance Services

The Meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss policy options that enhance the contribution of insurance services to growth, trade and development. It will also seek to identify approaches that developing countries may follow in building supply side capacity and seeking access to global insurance markets as a means of effective integration into the global economy.

The Meeting will address:

• the new realities and emerging trends in international trade in insurance services;
  
  
• the importance of insurance services to developing country economies and their role in contributing to the attainment of national development objectives;
  
  
• investment in insurance services;
  
  
• the Government´s role both as a regulator and provider of insurance services; and
  
  
• current progress in the GATS negotiations on insurance services.
