African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Regional Workshop on Competition Policy and Law for COMESA

The overall purpose of this virtual seminar is to raise awareness to facilitate the ratification processes of the Protocol and towards capacity building for the development and negotiations of the regulations for the implementation of the Protocol.

The purpose of this event is for:

  • raising awareness on the AfCFTA Protocol on Competition Policy;
  • enhancing technical capacity of the Member States on Competition policy and law, in particular in the areas of abuse of dominant position and mergers and acquisitions; and
  • exchanging experiences and best practices amongst State Parties and the RECs.

This meeting looks forward to achieve:

  • technical capacity of participants on abuse of dominance and merger analysis enhanced;
  • effective appropriation of the AfCFTA Protocol on competition Policy by participants;
  • concrete actions taken by State Parties to expedite the ratification processes of the Protocol on Competition Policy.
