Conference on competition in maritime transport and new trends in port management

This conference on competition in the maritime transport and new trends in port management was organized by the competition authority of Galicia and the Port of Vigo. The purpose of the conference was to present the latest UNCTAD annual report on maritime transport and discuss the situation of the sector from the perspective of competition and sustainability.

The representative of UNCTAD, Mr. Jan Hoffmann, presented the recently published report on the situation of maritime transport (Review of the Maritime Transport 2023) and subsequently various round tables were held (on competition in the sector and on sustainability) as well as interventions by academics and of the President of the Port of Vigo.

The attendance was numerous, filled with personalities from the public sector and representatives of important companies that operate in the ports.

The result of the conference was very satisfactory for the organizers.
