UNCTAD has carried out various consultative meetings with the Government of Cambodia on rules of origin. The purpose of these meetings was to assist Cambodia in the development of rules of origin regulations. Indeed, Cambodia is in the process of drafting a law on rules of origin. UNCTAD has provided comments on various versions of this draft law and has advised the government in consultative meetings.

This law establishes the principles and rules of origin for imported and exported goods to fully comply with the transitional disciplines of the Agreement on Rules of Origin under the World Trade Organization (WTO). It also promotes domestic and cross-border trade and investment, as well as trade preferences and environmental protection. This law will contribute to strengthening the development and growth of the national economy and improving the welfare of the population.
