Global online course on negotiating regional trade agreements for trade in times of crisis and pandemic

22 November - 14 December 2021
(CET/UTC+1)
Online

UNCTAD will organize an online training course on negotiating regional trade agreements (RTAs) for trade in times of crisis and pandemic from 22 November – 14 December 2021, jointly with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The objective of the course is to strengthen the capacity of participants in designing and drafting legal provisions of RTAs so that trade agreements can promote greater preparedness and resilience of RTA parties to cope with future pandemic and crises. The course will examine the importance of adapting RTA provisions to cater for trade policy needs in times of crisis, take stock of existing gaps in the light of experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, and discuss ways in which RTA provisions may be crafted to better address possible future crises.

The course will provide a range of drafting options of provisions that can be used in future RTAs. The course is intended for those who are working in the international trade field, such as trade negotiators, policymakers, researchers, and the civil society and private sector representatives. The course is open to the public. Candidates with background in trade policy, trade law and trade negotiations are strongly encouraged. Qualified women candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. A good knowledge of English is required.

Interested candidates should apply by following the instructions available here

The deadline for applications is 18 November 2021.
