At a special briefing session jointly organized by UNCTAD, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization (CTO), a cross section of Commonwealth parliamentarians will examine international and regional best practices on key legal aspects of electronic commerce.

Recognizing the central role played by parliamentarians in reforming legislation to handle the transformation of commerce by ICTs, this briefing session provides an opportunity to analyze various issues, from legal recognition of electronic messaging for e-commerce and e-government, to addressing the perils of cybercrime and the need for cybersecurity measures.

This briefing is held prior to the Commonwealth Cybersecurity Forum 2013 organized by the CTO which will be held on 25 and 26 April 2013.

The event is a part of the ICT and Law Reform Programme of the ICT Analysis Section of UNCTAD's Division on Technology and Logistics and is financially supported by the Government of Finland.
