The UNCTAD Secretary-General's Geneva Dialogue on Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda is an informal, open and inclusive multi-stakeholder dialogue between member States, international organizations, private sector and civil society.

The Secretary-General of UNCTAD, Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi is convening the Third Geneva Dialogue as part of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of UNCTAD.

The theme of the 3rd Geneva Dialogue is "Trade as a means of Implementation for Sustainable Development" (Background note).

Taking into account the Zero Draft of the Sustainable Development Goals that was circulated for the discussions at the 12th session of the Open Working Group (OWG), the dialogue will endeavor to:

  • Clarify what is at stake in the discussions in the OWG and in the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing; and

  • Exchange views on "what should be done by whom" within the global partnership framework with a view to making trade work as an effective means of implementation for achieving inclusive and sustainable development for the period 2015-2030 and beyond.

Participants will include member States, international organizations, private sector, academia and civil society.
