Training on Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Economic Diversification

22 - 26 May 2023
Angola

The objective of the training was to build the capacity of representatives of main actors of the national innovation system of Angola (e.g. Government, private sector, academia, organized civil society organization) to implement the recommendations contained in the Study on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Angola prepared by UNCTAD in cooperation with UNDP Angola and the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI).

The focus was on innovation and entrepreneurship for economic diversification – in expanding the productive capacities of the economy to produce goods and services that are new to the country and in the generation of jobs. Innovation for diversification will ensure sustainable growth in Angola and increase resilience to external economic crisis. The training covered not only policies under the responsibility of MESCTI, but all policy instruments that impact innovation and entrepreneurship.

About 40 local participants from several Ministries, public and private institutions of higher education, business associations and organized civil society of Angola,  selected by MESCTI in coordination with UNCTAD benefited from this training.
