​The Training Course for officials falls within UNCTAD's framework of institutional capacity building for effective competition law and policy enforcement.

Effective enforcement of competition law in the context of globalization and changing markets demands greater sophistication and upgrading of skills.  The training is thus offered to staff of TCCPA in order to build capacity in effectively investigating and deciding competition cases.

The principal objective of the training course is to familiarize officials with both the economics underpinning national competition laws and how this combines with the legal approach to enforcing competition policy in order to promote smooth and effective enforcement of competition legislation.

Experts drawn from a legal, economic and competition enforcement backgrounds, from South Africa, Tanzania, Independent Competition experts and UNCTAD will conduct the training. The Experts will guide the sessions, but discussions are encouraged and participants are free to express their opinions and raise case specific issues.
