UNCTAD's COMPAL Programme hosts its Annual Conference

​UNCTAD's COMPAL Programme, with the support of SECO-Switzerland, has been strengthening institutions and capacities in the areas of competition and consumer protection policies in Latin America since 2003. The third phase of the programme began on 2015 with a focus on regional cooperation and integration and is finishing in 2018. Its members are competition and consumer protection authorities of: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and the Andean Community. In 2018, the programme has implemented 100% of the field activities planned for its third phase. The Annual Conference, brings together all COMPAL members, the donor Switzerland and interested observers.

At the Annual Conference, COMPAL competition and consumer protection authorities assess the activities undertaken in the previous year and agree on the upcoming annual operational plan for next one. In this occasion, upcoming activities will be entirely self-funded.
This Annual Conference will also assess the sustainability of COMPAL after the closing of COMPAL III, and the end of SECO-funding.
