The BioTrade Initiative of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) hosted the Workshop on "Value Chain development in Northern Uganda ". This event was held on 25 June 2010 from 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. in Hotel Africana. The purpose of the event was to present the assessment of promissory species in Northern Uganda, particularly Gum Arabic, Shea butter and Aloe spps., as well as to develop a strategy to strengthen the value chains of those products, under BioTrade and reintegration concepts.
This workshop was organized in the framework of an international initiative led by UNCTAD and UNDP that aims to link BioTrade as a social, economic and environmentally sustainable re-integration option for ex-combatants and associated groups.
