Climate change must be faced despite global economic crisis, expert meeting on maritime transport stresses

A summary of the proceedings of an UNCTAD Multi-Year Expert Meeting on Transport and Trade Facilitation: "Maritime Transport and the Climate Change Challenge" held on 16-18 February 2009, has been published by the UNCTAD Secretariat.

The publication, which draws on the documentation from the Expert Meeting, and provides hyperlinks to speakers' presentations, has been prepared to present the key issues discussed by the experts and to make their insights available to a broader audience, as part of UNCTAD's contribution to the debate about appropriate action to address the challenge of climate change.

The document has also been submitted as an information note to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat, ahead of the Copenhagen Conference.
