The Civil Society Forum at UNCTAD XIII starts tomorrow. The week-long event is expected to welcome over 350 participants from 130 organizations and networks worldwide. The Forum will produce a Civil Society Declaration, to be presented to the Conference.
After yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony, the Civil Society Forum, which starts tomorrow, is the first UNCTAD XIII event to get underway. Lasting from 17-25 April, the Forum will feature 15 plenary sessions, as well as 29 side events organized by civil society organizations to discuss development issues of immediate importance to them.
On the agenda will be topics ranging from current challenges in trade and investment agreements to opportunities for making foreign direct investment work for sustainable development.
Over 350 civil society participants are expected at UNCTAD XIII, from 130 organizations and networks. The host organization is the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) of Qatar, working closely with the UNCTAD secretariat, the UN-NGLS and members of an International Civil Society Steering Group for UNCTAD XIII.
