Ms. Kassa, representative of Development Alternatives with Women in a New Era (DAWN), will provide her views not only on economic but also on gender and ecological aspects at the plenary session that will address Macroeconomic and Financial Governance on the Road to 2015, on 24 June 2013 - the first day of UNCTAD's Public Symposium.

A truly new economic framework must recognize and seek to address the root causes of gender, economic and ecological injustice deepened by false market-based solutions to climate change, land and water grabbing, financial speculation and tax havens, among others.

Ms. Kassa has also worked as a Youth Framing Paper Partner with the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE), and is an alumna of the DAWN Africa Regional Training Institute. Her work has been published in the African Agenda and DAWN Informs.
She has also contributed to a forthcoming book entitled The Remaking of Social Contracts, which is published by Zed Books. Her areas of interest include labour, gender, extractivism and climate change.
She is currently working with DAWN on a project on gender and economic and ecological justice in Africa.
