Mr. Akhteruzzaman Sano will speak at the plenary session From best policy practices to global transformation on 19 June.

He works for the Equity and Sustainability Field Hearings coordinated by Initiative for Equality. Initiative for Equality is a network of organizations, researchers and communities working towards more equitable and sustainable development, and the Field Hearings are designed to ensure that disadvantaged and marginalized communities are heard in the global dialogue on sustainable development.

Mr. Sano works on institutional capacity building, advocacy and engaging businesses, foundations, and civil society on climate risk analysis and reduction and development. This includes partnering with UN agencies, intergovernmental organisations and government ministries.

Mr. Sano has been a consultant to projects funded by the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the Climate Investment Fund etc. His doctoral research is on climate risk financing.

He is a Bangladeshi national and has lived in Cambodia since 2002.
