| In 2003, a new Series on International Investment Policies for Development was initiated. It builds on, and expands, the Series on Issues in International Investment Agreements (First Generation).
While the First Generation Series seeks to provide balanced analyses of key issues that may arise in discussions about international investment agreements, the Second Generation is devoted to a more sophisticated look at technical issues that arise in this context, to provide a better understanding of difficult technical issues and their interaction, and of innovative ideas that could contribute to an increase in the development dimension of IIAs.
