3rd meeting of the UNCTAD/ FAO/ IFOAM International Task Force on Harmonisation and Equivalence in Organic Agriculture

Rome, Italy. 17-19 Nov 2004

The third meeting of the International Task Force is scheduled on 17-19th November at FAO in Rome.

Two discussion papers have been prepared for this meeting. One of these proposes a potential long term solution to the problem of harmonizing organic standards, regulations, and conformity assessment systems. The other suggests steps that could be taken in the short term to increase harmonization.

Some of these steps could also pave the way for the long-term solution. After these papers are reviewed and made final by the ITF, they will be posted on the ITF website. A meeting report will also be posted in early January, 2005.
