National Workshop on Trade Policy Framework for Panama

​The Workshop is being organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Panama and aims to discuss with local stakeholders the preparation of the Trade Policy Framework study of Panama.

The objective of the Trade Policy Framework studies is to assess Panama's trade policy environments and provide recommendations to the government on (i) strengthening policy coherence to enhance export opportunities and (ii) developing productive capacities in resilient economic sectors that foster national development objectives. They seek to contribute to reformulating and implementing national trade policy regimes according to country's specific needs and priorities.
 
UNCTAD implements a long-standing work programme on trade policy formulation and implementation, and trade negotiations. Under UN Development Account projects, UNCTAD assists countries in formulating development-oriented coherent and best-fit national trade policy frameworks with a particular emphasis on the imperative of creating productive capacities and employment.
