​Lecture by Teresa Moreira of UNCTAD on Competition and Consumer Protection in Developing countries and the work of UNCTAD.  The lecture on Competition and Consumer Protection in Developing countries, is organized by the Brazilian Institute of Consumer Law and Policy BRASILCON at the Faculty of Law of the University of Sao Paulo, USP.

The lecture will be attended by members of the University of São Paulo and BRASILCON Institute of Consumer Law and Policy, represented by Professor Roberto Pfeiffer.
 
In Resolution 70/186 of 22 December 2015 the General Assembly revised the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection and entrusted UNCTAD with the mandate to serve as focal point within the United Nations on this issue. For the first time, the Guidelines contain a set of recommendations to businesses, so as to improve their practices in relation to consumers and strengthen consumer protection regimes with the participation of Governments, businesses and consumer groups.
