Overall objective of the Ministerial Retreat on Trade Facilitation in the EAC is to ensure the political engagement for the TFA implementation process at national and regional levels and to map the path ahead strategically through the leadership of the EAC Partner States and the EAC Secretariat in view of the success of the trade facilitation and related reforms based on the alignment and harmonization of policies in the EAC.
The Retreat will be held on 13th December 2018 at the UNON, Nairobi, Kenya and will be composed of an Executive segment in the morning and the Ministerial Segment in the afternoon of the same day.
The format will be high-level and interactive and composed of strategic sessions and discussions on country experiences.
At the end of the Ministerial segment, the Ministers are expected to adopt a Declaration of policy objectives for a regional trade facilitation strategy and reiterate their commitment to advance trade facilitation implementation in the EAC region.
