National consultations on the Fiji National E-commerce Strategy

12 - 13 March 2024
Grand Pacific Hotel
Suva
, Fiji

As part of the Fiji National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS) development project, under the Pacific Digital Economy Programme (PDEP), UNCTAD will co-organize with the Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications, multistakeholder national consultations in Suva on 12th -13th March to discuss the draft NECS including the development of a related implementation plan. The consultations will be followed by a donor roundtable meeting on 14th March in Suva.

Following the e-commerce assessment, led by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) in 2020, the NECS aims to provide a strategic framework and implementation plan for strengthening the e-commerce landscape, with the potential to stimulate economic growth, generate employment, elevate income levels, and boost regional and international trade. Fiji’s NECS, along with the five other NECS developed (Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands) are designed to align with the Pacific Regional E-commerce Strategy and Roadmap.

The PDEP is a joint initiative between UNDP, UNCDF and UNCTAD delivered in close cooperation with the PIFS to support the development of inclusive digital economies in the Pacific. The PDEP is jointly supported by the European Union, and the Australian and New Zealand Governments.
