Services Policy Review of Bangladesh - Second Stakeholder Workshop

The workshop is organized in the context of the Services Policy Review (SPR) of Bangladesh, and it is a follow up of the 1st one held in 9-10 July 2014.

In response to the request by the Government, UNCTAD began the SPR reviewing information and communication technology (ICT) services, tourism, manpower, and trade liberalization and negotiations on services in Bangladesh.

The UNCTAD Secretariat and a team of 4 national consultants prepared in-depth analysis of these areas.

This workshop is a very important step in the SPR as it concludes the study and provide the opportunity to critically consider, discuss and validate recommendations for sectoral development with stakeholders.

Objectives:

  1. Define, agree and adopt a set of policy recommendations to promote the development of services sector, which will be submitted to the government and other relevant actors as a basis for future action.

  2. Identify tentatively priority actions to implement in the near future and possible actors and institutions that would be in charge of implementation.
