Energy-related issues from the trade and development perspectives
Since 2008 and continuing into 2009, energy prices have been subjected to high volatility between booms and slumps, with major implications for developing countries´ trade and development prospects.
The commission will in particular consider issues related to ensuring that energy is accessible to populations and industry, affordable for all and especially the poor and available for promoting sustainable development locally and globally.
Under this agenda item the document entitled Energy-related issues from the trade and development perspective will be made available (TD/B/C.I/2).
The impact of the global economic crisis on developing countries´ trade and development prospects
A high-level session will provide an opportunity to deliberate on what measures can be taken on national, regional and global levels to cope with the crisis and lessen its occurrence in the future.
Promoting and strengthening synergies among the three pillars
Under this item two substantive documents were submitted:
- Progress report on the implementation of the provisions of the Accra Accord related to key trade and development issues (TD/B/C.I/3)
- Progress report on the implementation of the provisions of the Accra Accord related to commodities (TD/B/C.I/4)
