In the aftermath of the global economic crisis and the slowdown in foreign direct investment, the Commission will provide the opportunity for member States and investment and development stakeholders to discuss key and emerging investment issues and their development implications, as well as policy solutions.
This year´s session will address two main themes:
- Investment in the agricultural sector with a view to building productive capacities, and
- The role of States: efficiency in public investment for development - sharing best practices.
This Commission will also allow policymakers, investment promotion agencies and the private sector to exchange experiences and views during the presentations of the investment policy reviews of Belarus and El Salvador.
The Commission will also consider the reports of the:
- Multi-year Expert Meeting on Enterprise Development Policies and Capacity-building in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI)
- Multi-year Expert Meeting on International Cooperation: South–South Cooperation and Regional Integration
- Multi-year Expert Meeting on Investment for Development
- Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting
- Expert Meeting on Green and Renewable Technologies as Energy Solutions for Rural Development
- Expert Meeting on the Contribution and Effective Use of External Resources for Development, in Particular for Productive Capacity-building
