Workshop on the Launch of ASEAN Non-Tariff Measure Database and Country Reports

UNCTAD and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) have undertaken a joint project of Non-Tariff Measure (NTM) collection and classification in ten ASEAN member states, namely, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam. The cooperation of UNCTAD and ERIA brought the project to a successful close, establishing a database of ASEAN NTMs (http://asean.i-tip.org/) and producing country reports containing analysis based on the collected NTMs.
 
At the workshop, UNCTAD will launch the ASEAN NTM database and share key findings of the country reports, together with ERIA. Moreover, there will be a presentation on the recently launched NTM project for Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) countries. This new project aims to collect, classify, and analyse NTMs for Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. This work supports regional integration efforts in Asian and Oceanian regions.
